They will usually not touch or handle your equipment. The thermographer is typically there to shoot your gear only. Please do not expect the thermographer to aid the electrician or helper in any way, because he/she will have his/her hands full (literally) handling the sensitive infrared detection systems.
It is important to note that most critical switchgear have interlocks that prevent accidental exposure to the energized components. Sometimes these panels require several hands to operate correctly, so it is always a good idea to have a back-up electrician available should the primary electrician need help.
